PSL secures record broadcast deal from Walee

PAKISTAN SUPER LEAGUE (PSL) has signed the largest broadcast agreement in its history, entering a four-year partnership with Walee Technologies worth PKR 26.11 billion. The deal, which runs from the 2026 season through to 2029, will see Walee assume responsibility for both television broadcasting and live-streaming rights.

Walee, which also owns the Pindi franchise, takes over the rights from the 2026 edition onwards. The significant rise in valuation reflects both structural and commercial growth within the league.

Part of the uplift is attributable to the expansion of the competition from 34 to 44 matches following the addition of two new franchises, creating an eight-team league. Even after accounting for the increased number of fixtures, the per-match value has climbed from PKR 122 million to PKR 148 million, a 21 per cent rise.

The enhanced broadcast valuation mirrors the sharp increase in franchise prices witnessed earlier this year. Notably, the Multan Sultans, now rebranded as the Pindi franchise, were sold for PKR 2.45 billion per year over a ten-year cycle.

The upcoming PSL season is scheduled to begin on 26 March, with the final set for 3 May.

PSL CEO Salman Naseer said, “This will be the biggest broadcast deal in the history of not only the PSL but also Pakistan cricket. The steep rise in valuation of PSL’s commercial assets reflect the remarkable growth and credibility of PSL as a world-class league. We are delighted that all past records and valuations have been surpassed in this four-year term from 2026 to 2029. The strategic alignment of both TV and live-streaming rights in the Pakistan region ensures that our fans can continue to enjoy the PSL experience across multiple platforms with added enhancements and innovations that will be developed and launched periodically.”
