Puma named official LaLiga ball supplier in 3-yr deal: Report

MADRID: German sports retail giant Puma is increasing its stronghold in global football by bagging another massive deal, this time with Spain’s LaLiga.

According to a local publication AS English, Puma is set to replace Nike, which has been the league’s official match ball supplier since 1996. It is believed that the reason for the change is that top officials of the LaLiga desiring an exclusive and recognisable match day ball rather than it looking similar to the one used in the Premier League in England.

Newspaper reports in Spain claim that Puma and LaLiga’s contract will originally last till the 2021-22 season and is worth a whopping 5 million euros ($5.6 million).

Puma continues to scoop up Nike deals, having done so recently with Premier League champions Manchester City and its sister clubs across the world. It has also signed a kit sponsorship deal with Valencia CF in the Spanish league, replacing Adidas for the same.
