MUMBAI: Red Bull Reign, the unique 3-on-3 global basketball tournament that pits hoop hopefuls from 16 nations against one and other in a high-endurance, offense-driven battle, is all set to come to India for the very first time come 7 April this year.
The idea of the competition is to try to accumulate the most points possible to outlast your opponents within the given time (10 minutes). The tournament is open for men who are 16+ years of age.
Red Bull Reign uses a unique set of rules based on the gameplay of the FIBA rules. Below are the FIBA 3-on-3 rules:
a) Half-court game
b) Each team shall consist of 4 players (3 players on the court and 1 substitution)
c) The first team which scores 21 points or more wins the game if it happens before the end of regular playing time.
In India, the qualifiers will be held in 12 cities namely Chennai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Goa, Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai, Aizawl, Guwahati, Delhi, Ludhiana and Jaipur.
The national final will be held in Mumbai during the first week of June. The winner of that match will represent India in the World Finals in late 2019.
