MUMBAI: Cristiano Ronaldo, the freshly minted Juventus No.7, has once again topped the Instagram Sports Rich List for the year 2018. Team India captain Virat Kohli also figures on the exclusive list in ninth position, ahead of big names like Stephen Curry and Floyd Mayweather.
HopperHQ.com, an Instagram scheduling tool, analysed data to reveal its list of the highest paid celebrities and influencers on the social media platform. They looked at factors such as average engagement, how often they post and the number of followers.
Based on the number of Instagram followers (Ronaldo has a staggering 133 million of them), HopperHQ ha compiled an indicative list on how much a sports celebrity can charge companies when it comes to using their respective accounts for promotional purposes. The report shows brands would have to fork out $750,000 for every post the Portuguese superstar uploads.
In comparison, Kohli, with 22.5 million followers, charges $120,000 per post, according to HopperHQ.
Ronaldo’s success extends beyond the sporting world though because he has also made it into the overall top five.
The 33-year-old finished third in the global ranking, edging the likes of social media queen bee Kim Kardashian and the music industry’s most powerful songstress Beyonce into fourth and fifth respectively.
Television personality and model Kylie Jenner boasts top spot with $1,000,000 per post while singer Selena Gomez is second on $800,000.
