GLOBAL GOLF SUPERSTAR Rory McIlroy is set to return to India for the DP World India Championship, scheduled to be held at the iconic Delhi Golf Club from October 15–18, 2026, marking a major boost for the country’s growing stature in international golf.
The Northern Irishman, currently ranked World No. 2, will be making his second consecutive appearance at the tournament after headlining its inaugural edition in 2025. McIlroy’s participation significantly elevates the tournament’s global appeal. A five-time Major champion and career Grand Slam winner, he remains one of the most recognisable figures in world golf.
Joining McIlroy will be Tommy Fleetwood, the 2025 champion and reigning FedExCup winner, ensuring another high-profile field. The inaugural 2025 edition attracted some of the biggest names in golf and drew large crowds, underlining India’s potential as a major golf market.
McIlroy’s return signals strong player confidence in the Indian leg of the DP World Tour and reinforces India’s emergence as a key destination on the global golf calendar. The prize purse for the event is USD 4 million which is the largest for a DP World Tour event in India. It is part of the DP World Tour, co-sanctioned with the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI). The tournament forms part of the prestigious “Back 9” phase of the Race to Dubai, a crucial stretch leading into the season-ending DP World Tour Play-Offs.
