MUMBAI: The 2024 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) could see franchises have Rs 100 crores as their purse at the mini-auction set to be held in December this year. Mumbai, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Kochi and Kolkata are frontrunners to host the IPL 2024 mini-auction.
According to a report in Sportskeeda, the other big change that could be seen at this year’s mini-auction is that franchises might be able to make as many retention as they like with only the remaining players heading into the auction pool.
“The focus is now on World Cup and once every detail is taken care of, we will move towards IPL. We will decide the date after the World Cup. It is most likely in the third or fourth week of December. But it will only be discussed at the IPL GC meeting later on. It will not be on Christmas Eve for sure. We will try to look at a comfortable date for all,” a BCCI source is quoted as saying in the report.
