SA20 S3 saw 37% rise in global viewership, 70% rise in sold-out games

SA20, South Africa’s T20 league, hosted its ‘SA20 India Day 2025’ event in Mumbai, marking a key milestone in the league’s growing connection with the subcontinent. The celebration also served as the official launchpad for Season 4, scheduled from 26 December to 25 January 2026.

Over its first three seasons, SA20 has cemented its status as one of world cricket’s fastest-growing T20 leagues blending international stars such as Kane Williamson, Joe Root, Jos Buttler, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, and Trent Boult with South Africa’s emerging talents like Dewald Brevis, Tristan Stubbs, Kwena Maphaka, and Ryan Rickelton, a media release said. Season 3 proved to be a breakthrough year, witnessing a 70% rise in sold-out matches, including a third consecutive sold-out final, and a 37% increase in global TV viewership across India, the UK, the US, and Pan-African markets, the release added.

SA20 India Day 2025 brought together League Commissioner Graeme Smith, South African greats and current stars including Faf du Plessis (Joburg Super Kings), David Miller (Paarl Royals), Tom Moody (Durban’s Super Giants), Hashim Amla (MI Cape Town), and Mark Boucher. Adding to the festivities, Tristan Stubbs and Adrian Birrell (Sunrisers Eastern Cape), along with Sourav Ganguly (Head Coach, Pretoria Capitals), joined via special video messages, expressing their excitement ahead of the new season. Franchise representatives and official broadcasters JioStar were also in attendance.

‘SA20 India Day 2025’ also saw JioStar unveil its high-energy Season 4 promo, capturing the league’s fast-paced action, passion, and fan spirit setting the stage for what promises to be an electrifying new season. The event also brought together content creators, superfans, and the cricket community, who soaked in the vibrant spirit of SA20’s growing presence in India.

Smith said, “India has been at the heart of SA20’s journey from the start. The support of the IPL-owned teams and our partnership with JioStar has been vital. The passion and energy of Indian fans inspire us every season, and their connection has played a huge role in the league’s growth. As we head into Season 4, we’re excited to strengthen that bond and continue delivering a league that resonates across South Africa and the subcontinent.”
