CHENNAI: Esports tournament organizer Skyesports has announced the Skyesports Champions Series (SCS) 2024.
Set to be an open-for-all Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) esports tournament, the competition boasts an INR 10 Lakhs prize pool.
The event will be powered by semiconductor manufacturer AMD. Furthermore, EliteHubs has been unveiled as the e-commerce platform for the tournament.
After a successful 2023 edition, which recorded a peak concurrent viewership of 131,000 viewers, Skyesports has announced a much bigger format for 2024. This time, players from every part of the country will get a chance to compete in the competition, as the SCS will feature open-for-all qualifiers.
Registered teams will navigate through a series of qualifiers, with the top 18 advancing to the Semifinals. Six additional teams, based on their past performance, will be directly invited into the semifinals. This includes:
Blind Esports
iQOO Soul
Revenant Esports
Orangutan Esports
Gods Reign
GodLike
The Semifinals will witness the 24 teams divided into three groups (A, B, and C), competing from Feb. 27 to March 3. The top 16 will then secure their places in the SCS 2024 Finals. Scheduled as an online event from March 5 to 10, the Grand Finals will see the 16 qualifying teams battle it out in BGMI across six intense days to claim the championship.
The Skyesports Champions Series is one of Skyesports’ most valuable esports IPs. It was launched in 2022 with VALORANT, where the tournament culminated in an on-ground event in Chennai. The IP returned in 2023 with a BGMI esports tournament.
The 2024 edition is set to be bigger than before with a wider format, more opportunities for community engagement, and BGMI esports action.
