SLC likely to open bids for global rights on March 1: Report

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has reportedly invited global media rights bids for international cricket played in the Emerald Isles over the next four years – April 2023 to March 2027.

As per Cricbuzz, SLC is hoping to open the bids on Wednesday (March 1) in Colombo and aside from incumbent rights holder Sony Sports, Disney Star, Viacom18 and digital sports platform FanCode are  in the fray.

According to Cricbuzz, the current value of the SLC global rights is tipped to be around $23-25 million.

Critical to the pricing will of course be the number of India matches in the new four-year FTP, which stands at eight games in total, the cricket website reports. There is a six-match (three ODIs and three T20Is) white ball series in July 2024 and in 2026, India are to visit the island nation for a two-Test series.
