MONACO: SPORTELMonaco 2018, which after 29 years is tweaking its convention format, for the first time concentrating it within a 3-day event, asserts the evolution is part of its continuous efforts to adapt to the changing market, by highlighting new media such as Facebook, Amazon, Vimeo and Youtube.
Organised under the patronage of Prince Albert II of Monaco and the International Olympic Committee (IOC), this year’s convention has seen 80% of exhibitors and sponsors from 2017 confirming their presence, five weeks before the event start date.
Returning in 2018 are Red Bull Media House, Laliga, Bundesliga, NBA, PGA Tour, beIN Sports, NBC Sports, Activision Blizzard, FIFA, Eurosport, Dentsu, Total Sports Asia, Fight Sports, Facebook, Youthstream, Neulion, One Championship, Feedconstruct, and more.
Among the new exhibiting companies, Red Bull Air Race, Sail GP (Oracle Racing), Manchester United, World Surf League, K-League … have confirmed their presence.
For the record, last year the convention had 3,045 participants, 1,048 companies representing 78 countries and 23.5% of new companies.
The public opening of SPORTELMonaco 2018 will be on Tuesday, October 23rd at 8:30 pm, with the SPORTEL Awards.
During the ceremony, the most stunning sports images are rewarded. As for award winners, two have already been announced. Bixente Lizarazu will be awarded the 2018 SPORTEL Prize for Best Autobiography, while Didier Deschamps will take home the SPORTEL Lifetime Sport Achievement Award.
