NEW DELHI: Close on the heels of Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju issuing a stern warning to national federations wracked by internecine feuding, his ministry has cracked the whip on nine of them.
The Sports Ministry has issued show cause notices to nine national sports federations (NSFs) for failing to comply with the requirements laid down for renewal of annual recognition, Tribune India reports.
The Handball Federation of India (HFI), Rowing Federation of India, Special Olympic Bharat, Swimming Federation of India, Mallkhamb Federation of India, Fencing Association of India, Wushu Association of India, Billiards & Snooker Federation of India and Paralympic Committee of India have been issued notices for non-compliance. Director sports Rohit Bharadwaj has given all the federations a week to respond to the notice, failing which “action will be initiated”.
All the federations are mandated to display information including annual report / audited accounts of the last financial year, valid registration certificate of the federation, a copy of the constitution, details of national championships, names of all the registered state and district affiliated units.
