Star India marketing head Gayatri Yadav steps down

MUMBAI: Gayatri Yadav, Star India’s president and head consumer strategy and innovation, has put in her papers. She is currently serving her notice period and will reportedly be moving out of India’s leading broadcast network in October to set up her own entrepreneurial venture.

“Yes. This is to confirm Gayatri, who has had a long and fruitful association with Star India, is moving on. We wish her all the best in her new venture,” A Disney spokesperson confirmed to Indiantelevision.com.

A master’s degree holder from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, Yadav has been leading the company’s agenda on consumer strategy and innovation with a focus on brand and marketing strategy and big data and analytics for future growth.

Yadav joined Star India as executive vice president Marketing & Communications in April 2011 and was promoted to her present portfolio in November 2016. She is credited with Star’s landmark campaigns and shows like the launch of Satyamev Jayate, the refresh campaign of Star Sports, marketing launch of its streaming service Hotstar and crafting the Nayi Soch brand plan on Star Plus.

She has also successfully driven Star India’s nation-wide extensive marketing endeavour to announce new channel pricing and packs under TRAI’s new tariff regime much before the competitive channels.

In a marketing career spanning two decades, Yadav has also served at Procter and Gamble and General Mills, where she was chief marketing officer.
