MUMBAI: Star Sports has appointed Rajiv Mathrani as its new head of marketing, filling a vacancy left open since the departure in mid-January of Shubhranshu Singh.
Singh’s designation at the time he resigned after a four-year stint with the media major was EVP and head marketing Star Sports. He is currently Global head – Brand at Royal Enfield.
Mathrani, who joined Monday and reports to Star Sports CEO Gautam Takar, comes on board from telecom giant Airtel where he was chief Brand & Online officer.
As per his LinkedIn profile, Mathrani, who was with Airtel for three years, “lead brand & online teams at Airtel in a super exciting phase of transformation from a telecom to a digital services player”.
Prior to joining Airtel, Mathrani worked with PepsiCo for just under six years and his last posting at the food and beverages giant was as senior director and category head Snacks.
He has also had stints with Marico and Citibank India.
