MUMBAI: Ahead of the 14th edition of Vivo Indian Premier League, the (final?) sponsor tally for official broadcaster Star Sports is 17.
Star Sports had last week unveiled a list of 14 sponsors and the latest additions to the list are Cred, Garnier Men, and Havells Fans.
A TVC launched Tuesday confirmed the three new sponsors, exchange4media reports.
Last week, the broadcaster announced Dream11, BYJU’S, Phone Pe, Just Dial, Bingo, Kamla Pasand, AMFI, Frooti, Asian Paints, Thums Up, Vodafone-Idea, Mondelez, Amazon Prime, and Groww as on-air sponsors for world cricket’s richest annual tournament.
Last season, the broadcaster had signed 13 sponsors. Brands that have continued their association from last year’s event in UAE include BYJU’S, Kamla Pasand and AMFI.
It bears noting that when the confirmation of 14 sponsors on board had been made, Anil Jayaraj, executive vice president, Star Sports, had said: “The response from the advertisers is extremely encouraging; with only a few sponsor slots left for grabs.”
Star & Disney India had also unveiled the list of sponsors for IPL 2021 on Disney+ Hotstar. For the OTT platform, Dream11 is the co-presenting sponsor, and Upstox & Vimal Elaichi are co-powered by sponsors. PhonePe, AMFI, Unacademy, Pharmeasy, Livspace, Swiggy, and Parle Agro have been signed on as associate sponsors.
Star Sports launched the IPL campaign – #IndiaKaApnaMantra earlier this month featuring MS Dhoni in two completely new avatars. Through the aperture of IPL, the campaign is seen saluting the attitude of a generation that is redefining conventional rules of the game to overcome seemingly insurmountable challenges.
IPL 2021 will be broadcast LIVE on the Star Sports Network and stream on Disney+ Hotstar from April 9th from 7.30 pm onwards in five languages – English, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Tamil.
