NEW DELHI: Delhi Dynamos FC has become the first Indian Super League (ISL) franchise to publicly comment on the organisation of the ongoing Hero Super Cup.
Delhi Dynamos took a swipe Sunday at the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and its commercial partners Football Sports Development Ltd after the club was handed a walkover (for the second time in succession) in the quarter-final match against Quess East Bengal.
“UPDATE: Owing to the inept handling of the situation by all concerned, Delhi Dynamos have had to travel to Bhubaneswar for the second time and get a walkover in the ongoing Super Cup. @eastbengalfc failed to show up for their clash. HeroSuperCup,” the club tweeted.
This was the second time that the club traveled all the way to Bhubaneswar for their match only to be handed a walkover because an I-League team did not turn up for the game.
Earlier, the Dynamos were scheduled to take on Gokulam Kerala on March 16, but the I-League team did a no show.
As has already been widely reported, all the I-League clubs (barring AIFF development side Indian Arrows) had initially decided to boycott the competition till sch time as AIFF president Praful Patel gave them an audience ahead of the impending restructuring of top flight clb football in India.
Chennai City FC and Real Kashmir are the only teams to take part in the round of 16 matches, but East Bengal, Mohun Bagan, NEROCA FC and Churchill Brothers have all stuck to their guns on the vexed issue.
