MUMBAI: The International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) has confirmed that the World Cup 2019 in New Delhi will have the largest broadcast ever for the sport’s marquee event, following a new deal with South Africa’s top private sports broadcaster, SuperSport.
With the event starting on Thursday, SuperSport will be showcasing the event live on television in 50 countries of the African continent.
“This is fantastic news. This is a huge boost in our endeavour to grow the sport and increase its reach and it is a matter of great personal pride for me as it is for the entire country, that the biggest live telecast ever of an ISSF event, would begin with New Delhi 2019,” NRAI President and chairman of the World Cup organizing committee, Raninder Singh was quoted as saying to IANS.
Recently, the NRAI also confirmed that Sony and Doordarshan will be sharing the India broadcast rights of the competition.
In eight of the ten scheduled medal events, a total of 16 Olympic spots are up for grabs, making the competition all the more significant.
