CHENNAI: Sheila Stephen, a reputed academician, has been named Vice Chancellor of the Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University till 2021.
This is the first time that a woman has been appointed for the post in the institution’s history.
Tamil Nadu governor Banwarilal Purohit who is also the Chancellor of the university, was responsible for Stephen’s appointment, according to a government release.
Endowed with rich academic and research experience, Stephens has more than 70 research publications in various journals to her name.
Her overseas academic collaborations cover 14 countries, including Oxford University, London, Springfield College of Physical Education, Massachusetts, USA and Institute of Sport and Exercise Science, Worcester University, London.
