TSI Racing returns to World Rally Championship; Dean, Gagan to debut

Indian rally team TSI Racing is making a significant return to the global motorsport stage, with driver Dean Mascarenhas and co-driver Gagan Karumbaiah set to debut in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) 2026 in the WRC3 category.

The duo will begin their campaign at the prestigious Rally Islas Canarias (Spain), marking a major milestone for Indian rallying on the international circuit. The event is one of the most technical asphalt rallies on the WRC calendar, featuring fast, narrow, and demanding stages.

This marks TSI Racing’s return to WRC after nearly two decades. The team previously helped Inddrivers like Gaurav Gill and Naren Kumar to enter the global rally ecosystem. The new global push is part of a structured international programme launched in 2026 and they are expected to participate in multiple WRC rounds this season.

The WRC3 is the third-tier category of the FIA World Rally Championship designed for private teams and emerging talent using Rally3-spec cars and acts as a key stepping stone to higher categories like WRC2 and the top-tier WRC.

Dean Mascarenhas is the 2025 Indian National Rally Championship (INRC) champion and among India’s most consistent rally drivers while his co-driver Gagan Karumbaiah is the reigning national co-driver champion. They will be competing in a Ford Fiesta Rally3, prepared and supported by PH Sport, a globally experienced rally outfit.
