UEFA extends partnership with Playstation

ZURICH: European football’s governing body, UEFA announced on Friday an extension of their contract with Sony Interactive Entertainment’s popular gaming brand Playstation until 2021.

The partnership has been in existence since 1997. Playstation’s logo has been seen throughout UEFA competitions, more so the Champions League.

As per the extended contract, PlayStation will invest its vast expertise in innovative consumer entertainment technology during the Champions League, to create exciting content and competitions for fans across the PlayStation Network and digital media channels.

PlayStation will also present new and enhanced versions of the popular UEFA Champions League Fantasy and Predictor games, alongside the Official UEFA Champions League app – keeping fans up to date with all of the action on matchdays.

Guy-Laurent Epstein, UEFA Events SA marketing director, said: “PlayStation has been a valued partner of the UEFA Champions League for more than 20 years, so I am delighted that as we conclude another thrilling season together, we are able to celebrate a three-year extension to our relationship. Our long-term partnerships with experienced industry leaders such as PlayStation are invaluable to UEFA in promoting our competitions globally, and in particular in the digital space, so we are looking forward to continuing our relationship as we enter a new UEFA Champions League cycle.”

Playstation is the eighth brand that UEFA has signed up with for the 2018-21 season, after Heineken, Nissan, PepsiCo, Mastercard, Gazprom, adidas and Santander.
