The allocation has gone to the National Youth Empowerment Program has been increased this year, from Rs 108 cr spent last year, to Rs 138 cr for the 2022-2023 fiscal. The Khelo India programme’s budget has also been increased, from Rs 879 cr to Rs 974 cr.
For the record, in the 2019-2020 fiscal, the government had allocated Rs 2826.92 cr for sports, which was later revised downwards to Rs 1800.15 cr because of the lack of sports activity caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
