MUMBAI: The Women’s Football Championship 2018, organised by the Western India Football Association (WIFA), kicked off here Monday at the Cooperage Football Stadium.
Ten leading teams, eight from Mumbai District and one each from Pune District and Kolhapur District are competing for the top honours in this championship. United Pune Soccer Association (UPSA), Pune and FC Kolhapur City are the two outstation teams.
The participating teams have been divided into two groups of five each and will initially play on a round-robin league basis.
FC Kolhapur City took on Mumbai’s Kenkre FC, in the opening match.
The groupings:
Group-A: PIFA, Bombay Gymkhana, FC Mumbaikar, Future Stars, United Pune Soccer Association (UPSA), Pune.
Group-B: Kankre FC, FC Kolhapur City, Football Leaders Academy, Football School of India and Bodyline SC.
