Wimbledon takes event b’casting in-house

LONDON: The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) has announced that Wimbledon Broadcasting Services (WBS) will be broadcasting the Wimbledon Tennis Championships from this year onwards, Tennis World USA reports.

WBS will be directly managed by the tournament, broadcasting all the matches scheduled on the 18 courts courtesy a 4K Definition and multi-camera way.

For the first time in the tournament’s 150-year history, a net-cam will be introduced on Centre Court and Court 1. Across 11 courts, fans from 200 countries will be able to enjoy the world-feed commentary.

AELTC has taken a leaf out of Tennis Australia’s book as the Australian Open was the first Grand Slam to take broadcast rights in-house back in 2015. It gives the rights holder more control over the content and opportunities to customize it for their fans across the globe.
