AS GUWAHATI gears up to host the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 opener on 30 September, the Trophy Tour with DP World celebrated the city’s passion for cricket during its six-day stop.
Beginning on 31 August, the prestigious trophy was showcased at some of Guwahati’s most scenic and historic landmarks, including the War Memorial, Northbrook Gate, a ferry ride from Fancy Bazar Ghat capturing the sunset over the Brahmaputra River, and the Mahabahu Brahmaputra River Heritage Centre.
One of the highlights of the tour was its visit to six schools — NPS International School, SBOA Public School, South Point School, Assam Jatiya Bidyalay, SAI RNS Academy, and Holy Child School. Students welcomed the trophy like a hero, participated in cricket-themed games, and enjoyed a variety of interactive activities, according to the release.
After wrapping up in Guwahati, the trophy has now travelled to Visakhapatnam, continuing its journey across cities in India and Sri Lanka in the lead-up to the tournament. The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 will run from 30 September to 2 November across five venues: DY Patil Stadium (Navi Mumbai), ACA Stadium (Guwahati), Holkar Stadium (Indore), ACA-VDCA Stadium (Visakhapatnam), and the R Premadasa Stadium (Colombo, Sri Lanka).
