DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has declared that it has received more than 2.5 million applications for 800,000 tickets for the World Cup 2019 matches in England and Wales through their Cricket Family Ballot and Public Ballot rounds. However, it has made more than 50,000 tickets available for fans as part of its General Sale from 27 September on a first-come-first-serve basis. The offer will be valid to those fans who missed out in the Ballot rounds.
Steve Elworthy, ICC CWC 2019 MD said: “The response from fans in England and Wales and around the World has been exceptional. There are still plenty of great tickets available in the General Sale and my message to fans is to get in early to make sure they are part of this once-in-a-lifetime tournament.”
“So far fans have only been told what matches they have got tickets for and will be told full allocation details, such as seat and stand, closer to the tournament. This means that any tickets currently being advertised on secondary ticketing sites with full allocation details listed are misleading and may well be cancelled. We are monitoring this situation with the ICC and are taking the appropriate legal measures against these sites. We strongly urge all fans to buy their tickets from the Official Ticketing Website.”
The ICC also said that fans who have won tickets for the matches through the ballots but may have to back out last minute, can put their tickets on the Official Resale Platform through the CWC19 ticketing website later in the year. This will be the safest and most secure way to sell tickets at face value and will allow fellow fans to enjoy the unforgettable atmosphere of the World Cup.
