18% rise seen in female viewership in IPL 2018: Report

MUMBAI: The IPL 2018 has seen a record number of viewers across all platforms. Women have reportedly accounted for as much as 40% of IPL’s total viewership this season.

Female audiences have seen a growth rate of 18% in the first four weeks of the competition, with impressions 717.4 million this year as against 606 million in 2017, Business Standard reports. 

Apart from impressions, the average time spent by women tuning into the tournament has also increased from 31.07 minutes in 2017 to 33.09 minutes in 2018, which constitutes an increase by 7%, according to the business daily.

Geographically, the biggest markets in this regard continue to be Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh/Telangana and Karnataka. Urban cities though, have attracted more female audiences this year, coming up to 59% as compared to 56% in 2017.
