Working to find Yuvraj a BBL franchise, confirms manager

MUMBAI: Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s manager Jason Warne has confirmed that he is working with Cricket Australia to find the all-rounder a franchise for the 2020 edition of the Big Bash League.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Singh’s manager Jason Warne confirmed that Cricket Australia were looking to find the legend a BBL club.

“We’re working with CA to try to find him a home,” Warne told Sydney Morning Herald. However, the Australian daily also stated that interest from the clubs had been “modest”.

Several Indian cricketers in the past have criticised the BCCI for not allowing active players to take part in foreign leagues. However, after retired cricketer Pravin Tambe’s induction in the Caribbean Premier League for Trinbago Knight Riders (thanks to the generosity of the owners of his CPL team who also own Indian Premier League franchise Kolkata Knight Riders), options are widening.

Active cricketers who today find no place in the Indian Premier League (in Yuvraj’s case, not in the reckoning for Team India either), have the option of retiring and looking to ply their trade in the various T20 leagues across the cricketing world. An art perfected by West Indian cricketers in particular.
