MUMBAI: It was on Thursday that SportzPower was alerted that a broadcast deal had been signed for the upcoming season of the Hero I-League. What was not provided was the crucial detail as to which network had signed on as broadcast partner.
Well, Mumbai Mirror provided that name in a report filed Friday. And it is the Discovery branded DSport. According to the tabloid, the deal could be “closed in a couple of days”. Assuming the information provided to SportzPower is correct (and this website has no reason to doubt the source), it could well be that DSport will be “announced” as the official broadcaster of what is now officially the country’s second tier of club football, after the Hero Indian Super League.
Admission: This website was working under the assumption that the I-League would more than likely have only a streaming partner in Jio TV; on the lines of what LaLiga has going with Facebook for the Indian market.
