PUNE: The Abhinav Bindra Targeting Performance (ABTP) centre has opened its fifth facility in the country in Pune with the suport of Bajaj Auto.
Mohali, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Bhubaneswar are the four cities where ABTP centres, not-for-profit ventures managed by the Abhinav Bindra Foundation, are already in operation.
Consultation and treatment will be offered free of charge to athletes since the project is supported by the foundation, while non-athletes can also avail treatments for neuromuscular and orthopedic conditions.
ABTP boasts of high-precision machines which help in understanding an athletes body, injuries and even posture. Data collected by the machine is then used to improve the training methods of the athletes.
Talking about the center, the Olympic Gold medal winning shooter said, “The use of technology and sports science is very critical in sports not just in terms of management of injuries, but also prevention of injuries. The same concept can also be utilized for performance enhancement. Sports today is all about the synchronization of mind and body and this technology here is all about it.”
