MUMBAI: Forbes India is back with the eighth edition of its list of 30 top achievers in the country across various walks of life who are aged under 30.
Amongst sportspersons, the first ever Indian U-20 world champion sprinter and Asian Games 2018 Silver medallist Hima Das features in the list. The ‘Dhing Express’ from Assam had a stellar 2018 which also resulted in her winning the Arjuna Award. The athlete is managed by IOS Sports and Entertainment, which helped her bag sponsorship deals and cash rewards with the likes of adidas, SBI, Edelweiss, Assam government and OIL India.
Another Indian women sportsperson featured in the list, who comes from the world of cricket, is Smriti Mandhana. The 23-year-old Indian opening batter recently became the No.1 ODI batswoman in the world and is ranked amongst the country’s top T20I players. Her reputation has seen her play for top T20 leagues such as England’s Kia Super League and Australia’s Rebel Women’s Big Bash League. She is managed by Baseline Ventures and has an endorsement deal with Bata, the European footwear major and India’s leading footwear brand.
Mandhana was also a part of the Forbes Under 30 Asia list in 2018 alongside badminton star PV Sindhu.
Besides Das and Mandhana, the 21-year-old javelin throw champion Neeraj Chopra found a mention as well on the Forbes list. Chopra won a Gold medal for India at the Asian Games 2018, in which he set the national record of 88.06 m and had previously achieved the same feat at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia. JSW Sports manages the athlete, who has bagged a deal running till 2021 with Pepsico’s sports drink brand Gatorade.
