SINGAPORE: ONE Championship, one of the largest MMA properties in the world, has appointed Meghan Jenkins as its new vice president of international operations. In her role, Jenkins will develop and expand ONE Championship’s businesses internationally and drive key strategic initiatives in new markets.
She comes to ONE after over 10 years with the National Basketball Association (NBA), working at the global headquarters in New York and the Asia regional headquarters in Hong Kong. She will officially commence her new role with ONE in March 2019.
Jenkins commented on her appointment: “I am thrilled to be joining ONE Championship. My experience over the last decade working to build the NBA into a global sports leader will be invaluable as I embark on this new challenge and help take ONE Championship to the next level. Having spent the last few years focused on identifying opportunities across the Asia Pacific region, it is clear to me that there is significant untapped potential in Asia’s massive and growing sports media market and ONE Championship is uniquely positioned to capture a large portion of it. I look forward to joining Chatri and the rest of ONE’s leadership team as we work to build ONE Championship into a global sports powerhouse.”
ONE Championship chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong added: “It is an absolute honour to announce that Meghan Jenkins has joined our senior leadership team here at ONE Championship as Vice President International. As a seasoned leader, Meghan will work alongside myself and the rest of our leadership team to help scale ONE Championship into the first multibillion dollar global sports media property in Asian history. She will oversee ONE Championship’s growth internationally, including new markets and TAM expansion as well as strategic initiatives across our existing markets. With the addition of Meghan, ONE Championship now has the most seasoned and experienced world-class leadership team in the entire Asian sports media industry today.”
Most recently, Jenkins was VP – Head of Strategy and part of the senior leadership team for NBA Asia in Hong Kong since 2015. Jenkins was responsible for the expansion of the NBA’s business in Asia Pacific, including the development of key strategic partnerships across different markets and business lines, the execution of growth strategies, and the prioritisation of investments across the region.
She was also involved in the negotiations of media deals in Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines, sourced new opportunities across emerging digital media platforms and eSports, and grew the global fanbase by funding locally-produced content and social media initiatives.
Her work expands to being a part of the initial team responsible for the growth and management of NBA China, an entity established in 2008, which included structuring joint ventures with local partners, scaling operations and long-term strategic planning.
Using her experience as an investment banker in J.P. Morgan’s Industrials and Transportation group in New York, she co-founded and led the NBA’s growth equity investment platform across the media, sports and technology sectors.
