346 up for bidding in pruned IPL 2019 auction list

MUMBAI: Former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum, Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, Sri Lanka’s Lasith Malinga and South African speedster Dale Steyn, are among the 346 players who will go under the hammer during the upcoming IPL auction 2019. 

The Indian Premier League (IPL) players’ auction will be held in Jaipur on December 18.

Initially, 1003 players had registered for the players’ auction. The list was pruned after IPL teams submitted their shortlists.

As per a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) press release, nine overseas players (McCullum, Chris Woakes, Malinga, Shaun Marsh, Colin Ingram, Corey Anderson, Angelo Mathews, D’Arcy Short) have registered themselves for the top bracket of Rs 20 million. 

Jaydev Unadkat, who fetched the highest price among Indians during the last IPL auctions at a whopping of Rs 115 million, has put himself under the base price of Rs 15 million this time.

Veteran Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh and former KXIP player Axar Patel have set their base price at Rs 10 million.

South Africa’s Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel will hope to return to action for the 12th season of IPL. The duo have put themselves into the Rs 15 million bracket.

Indian speedster Ishant Sharma will invite the first bid for Rs 7.5 million while Mohammed Shami has set his base price at Rs 10 million.
