Mzansi Super League confirms CSR partnership with US-based NGO

CAPE TOWN: South Africa’s Mzansi Super League (MSL) have announced USA-based NGO, Global Citizen as an official partner for the event’s first ever edition as both entities seek to play a role towards changing the lives of surrounding and international communities in the 32 tournament matches with the final on 16 December.

All six teams – Cape Town Blitz, Durban Heat, Jozi Stars, Paarl Rocks, Nelson Mandela Bay Giants and Tshwane Spartans – will carry Global Citizen’s logo on their apparel to solidify the intent of unity, social cohesion and changing lives through sports participation.

Global Citizen is an international advocacy, world renowned with the goal that aims at ending extreme world poverty by year 2030 as part of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, working across 17 target goals that include food and nutrition, sanitation for girls and women, the environment, health and finance.

“The vision from us is to not only have the Mzansi Super League being showcased across the world, but to also to play our part in reminding every citizen that we have a social responsibility. We are all accountable in promoting social cohesion and we are doing this through the wonderful game of cricket,” Cricket South Africa (CSA) CEO Thabang Moroe said.

“In all matches showcased across various platforms in the sub-Saharan region, the United Kingdom, India and the sub-continent region – we will make sure that each player understands his roles in communities that we have to serve each moment of the day.”

Global Citizen VP of Partnerships Stephen Brown said: “Like music, sport is one of the most unifying mediums in the world, bringing people together beyond language, religion, race and economic background. We are so excited to partner with the Mzansi Super League to engage cricket fans across the country in our shared mission to end extreme poverty.”
