MADRID: La Liga heavyweights Atletico Madrid have announced that it will sport the logo of ‘Save the Children’ on its back of its jerseys for all its matches in UEFA competitions.
The Spanish club had done the same during its UEFA Super Cup match in Estonia back in August in which they had defeated city rivals Real Madrid.
Founded in the UK, Save the Children is a leading global NGO that works in more than 120 countries worldwide for the rights of children and infants by providing them with support and security in accordance to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The club and its foundation have supported the NGO off late in its Spanish operations which have otherwise lasted two decades and have involved programs for the most vulnerable children, centered on infants in risk of poverty or social exclusion.
