BCCI prez CK Khanna’s wife to fight DDCA elections

NEW DELHI: Another candidate joins the fray when it comes to contesting the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) elections on June 30 as BCCI acting president CK Khanna’s wife Shashi Khanna is keen on securing the post of vice president, Press Trust of India reports.

The 64-year-old Khanna will be up against Rakesh Bansal, younger brother of former DDCA president Sneh Bansal.

Should former Indian cricketer Madan Lal become DDCA president, Khanna will be appointed vice president. Lal is in a three-cornered fight for the top post in the DDCA, which was held by Union finance minister Arun Jaitley from 1999 to 2013. Senior advocate of the Supreme Court Vikas Singh, who is also the president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, and Rajat Sharma, chairman of news channel India TV, are the other two contesting the top post.

The other woman contender in the elections is Saroj Katyal who is the wife of DDCA official Ashok Katyal and is reportedly backed by Indian Olympic Association president Narinder Batra.
