SLC reports financials at 8-yr high

COLOMBO: 2017 proved to be the best year for Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) even as the national team’s performance sunk to an all-time low.

According to SLC’s financials, its liquidity (net current assets) is the highest since 2010, with the amount coming up to LKR850 million ($5.37 million).

During this period, the liquidity numbers were in the negative with the worst year being 2011, in which SLC recorded a massive deficit of LKR1.82 billion.

When it comes to net profits, it rose by 33% to LKR910 million in 2017 as compared to LKR27.5 million in 2016. This has been attributed by the board to their strategic growth plans and prudent financial management.

Its net income of LKR2.6 billion in 2017 is the highest ever SLC has earned in its history. The board’s focus on producing young talent was shown financially as well since its investment on domestic tournaments was doubled to LKR199 million in 2017, as compared to the previous year.
