NEW DELHI: Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore’s stock continues to rise within the corridors of power in the Union government.
In a surprise cabinet reshuffle on Monday, the 2004 Athens Olympics Silver medalist was handed independent charge of the information and broadcasting ministry, taking over from Smriti Irani, who has been removed and now has just the textile ministry under her.
The vital I&B portfolio will now be fully handled by Rathore, who was the junior minister to Irani thus far.
