Dream Sports-owned Indian sports streaming platform FanCode is set to broadcast several marquee events organized by the Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA), one of India’s oldest and most prestigious school sports organizations, across various sports.
The development follows close on the heels of Dream Sports Foundation (DSF), the philanthropic arm of Dream Sports, announcing a five-year partnership with MSSA aimed at enhancing youth sports and fostering grassroots talent development in the Maximum City.
For the record, the collaboration between MSSA and DSF will span across 20 sports, with a focus on hockey, football, cricket, athletics, table tennis, and badminton.
Coming back to the broadcast agreement between FanCode and MSSA, it will kick off with the prestigious Harris Shield, MSSA’s U-16 cricket tournament, returning to the platform for the second consecutive year.
This event is a significant boost for players participating in one of Mumbai’s most prominent cricketing tournaments. The final match is scheduled to take place between Anjuman-I-Islam Allana English School and Modern English School, Chembur, from Monday, December 16-18 at the Brabourne Stadium.
Historically, the Harris Shield has been a launching pad for renowned Mumbai cricketers such as Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shivam Dube, and Prithvi Shaw during their formative years. In addition to the Harris Shield, the Giles Shield will also be available for viewing on FanCode.
Yannick Colaco, co-founder of FanCode, expressed enthusiasm about the initiative, stating, “Last year’s broadcast of the Harris Shield marked a landmark moment in Indian amateur sport. We are thrilled to continue providing a platform for the next generation of superstars and to extend our coverage to other sports, including athletics, hockey, and football, as organized by MSSA. This aligns with our broader goal of nurturing a sporting culture that allows families and friends to come together to support the athletes.”
Upcoming tournaments available on FanCode will include the inter-school athletic meet, the finals of the inter-school Hockey Tournament (The Aga Khan Hockey Cup), and the inter-school football tournament.
