ROYAL CHALLENGERS BENGALURU (RCB) secured their second Women’s Premier League (WPL) crown after pulling off the biggest successful chase in the tournament’s history to beat Delhi Capitals (DC).
Asked to field first, Delhi posted an imposing 203, but Bengaluru rose to the challenge in Vadodara. Captain Smriti Mandhana and Georgia Voll anchored the pursuit with a decisive 165-run stand for the second wicket, steering RCB to a memorable victory.
RCB took home the Rs 6 crore winners’ prize, while DC received Rs 3 crore as runners-up.
It was another heartbreaking finish for DC, who have reached every WPL final in the league’s four-year history but suffered a fourth consecutive defeat at the last hurdle.
Mandhana finished the season as the leading run-scorer, claiming the orange cap with 377 runs. Gujarat Giants’ Sophie Devine earned both the purple cap and the most valuable player award, while Mumbai Indians were honoured with the fair play award.
