Nandan Piramal returns to Indian football as FC Goa president

PANAJI: Nandan Piramal has been appointed as the president of ISL franchise FC Goa. 

Co-owner and former president Akshay Tandon and Ravi Pushkar will be seen in a new role, FC Goa Club announced on Monday.

Tandon has stepped back from his day-to-day operational duties but will remain active in the club. Tandon has presided over a transformative period in FC Goa’s history. Under his leadership the club made significant progress in youth development and grassroots football during his tenure as president. He had put more emphasis on the drive to find talented players from among the local players.

Piramal will take over as FC Goa president while Pushkar will take on a new and expanded role at the club as chief executive officer (CEO). Piramal, known for his successful management of Pune FC in the I-League, will be leading the FC Goa club with a fresh perspective and wealth of experience, the club stated.

“We are delighted to have Nandan join FC Goa as club president. His passion for the game and his deep understanding of football’s impact on people aligns with our vision for FC Goa, Akshay has also led the club with great passion and hard work,” Jaydev Modi, owner, FC Goa, stated.

“My journey with FC Goa has been one of pride and fulfillment. We are proud of what we have achieved while operating in FC Goa, especially our commitment to youth development and grassroots football. Although new and varied responsibilities have to be taken care of, my heart will be attached to the FC Goa club, Tandon said. 

“FC Goa Club is one of the popular clubs. I am very much looking forward to working closely with FC Goa, a club that commands millions of football fans. It is a great pleasure to take on the role of CEO at FC Goa. I will give my all to achieve team success and take the club to new heights,” Piramal added.
