MUMBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has not brought in any restriction on the participation of players in multiple leagues.
According to a report in Cricbuzz, the chief executives committee (CEC) of the ICC during the annual conference in Durban recently did not go ahead with any immediate regulations though few full members wanted it.
The CEC’s rejection is a significant victory for two particular leagues, the ILT20 in the United Arab Emirates and Major League Cricket (MLC) in the US, the report said. These leagues had faced criticism from a few international boards, notably the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Cricket West Indies (CWI), for their extensive involvement with international cricketers. The ILT20, launched last year, allows for nine international players in the playing XI, while the upcoming MLC will permit six international players in its line-up, the report added.
