USA not ready; T20 WC24 might be shifted: report

THE INFRASTRUCTURE IN in the United States of America (USA) might not be ready in time for hosting the T20 World Cup 2024, and the International Cricket Council (ICC) is looking at other possible venues.

According to a report by News18 Cricketnext, ICC may request England to host the T20 World. Incidentally, England, Ireland and Scotland have been given the rights to host the 2030 T20 World Cup

The upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup is right now scheduled to be played in the United States and West Indies. However, due to the short time remaining for infrastructure being ready, it is likely that there might be a swap and the hosting rights of 2024 T20 World Cup might be given to England, Ireland and Scotland, while the hosting rights of T20 World Cup 2030 might be given to USA and West Indies.

“There is a situation at hand. The current infrastructure situation in the USA is not very encouraging and it is likely that the ICC could well swap the hosts for 2024 and 2030 editions of the event. It will also allow USA Cricket to get the infrastructure in order before 2030 and allow them to set the house in order too. Right now, it will be a rushed process to get the venues ready. England were already allotted the 2030 World Cup and they, unlike other nations, can host an event in June-July,” a source close to the developments informed News18 CricketNext, the report said.
