CHENNAI: The Impiger Technologies presents Chennai Open Golf Championship 2022 teed off at the Tamil Nadu Golf Federation (TNGF) golf course Tuesday and will run through to Friday, August 26.
The third edition of the tournament heralds the Professional Golf Tour of India’s debut at TNGF and its return to Chennai after four years. The event offers a prize purse of Rs 4 million.
The Pro-Am event will be held on August 27.
The tournament, which has 126 golfers, including 123 professionals and three amateurs participating, is supported by Presenting Partner Impiger Technologies, Powered by Partner Amrutanjan and Fruitnik Electro+, Co-Partner Gujarat Tourism, Venue Partner TNGF and Associate Partners Brigade Group, Crowne Plaza Chennai, Audi Chennai and Absolut & Ballantines.
The leading Indian professionals in the field include Khalin Joshi (winner on the PGTI last week), Karandeep Kochhar, Manu Gandas, Aman Raj, Shamim Khan as well as the defending champion Mithun Perera of Sri Lanka.
The local challenge consists of Chennai-based professionals Sandeep Syal, C Arul, A Charles Ros, L Selvaraj, Pradyumna Prakash and S Prasanth. The three Chennai-based amateurs in the field are Suman Ranjeet as well as cricketers Murali Vijay and Aniruda Srikkanth.
