ACT Fibrenet to dial gaming code for growth in metro cities

NEW DELHI: The Bengaluru-based telecom company, Atria Convergence Technologies has confirmed that it has plans to expand its brand ‘ACT Fibrenet’ through gaming outside of Bengaluru as well seeing the strength of its internet services, Press Trust of India reports.

ACT boasts of 2.5 million subscribers across broadband and cable, with the former being made available in 16 cities already. When it comes to gaming, the company has earmarked markets in Chennai, Hyderabad and New Delhi, which will also see a total of 5,000 WiFi hotspots installed in these cities in the next few months, from the existing 4,000. These will be made available in schools and public libraries amongst places frequented by the youth.

“We have seen strong usage of our services in the gaming community. We are in discussions with various players in the ecosystem like console makers, gaming titles publishers, gaming cafes etc to bring these to this growing segment of gaming enthusiasts,” ACT CEO Bala Malladi told PTI.

ACT Fibrenet has been at the forefront of the eSports and gaming community in Bengaluru, hosting the annual ‘GamerConnect’ Festival every September since the last two years.
