After IPL suspension, SA’s T20I tour to India in Sep under cloud

MUMBAI: After the 2021 Indian Premier League was suspended indefinitely, the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s focus has been fixed firmly on the possibilities of completing the remainder of the IPL in the September window after England’s tour of India is complete and before the T20 World Cup scheduled in India for October-November.

What has flown under the radar as it were is that the BCCI has already scheduled a tour to India in the exact same window. The Proteas are scheduled to tour India for a T20I series in preparation for the T20 World Cup in September.

So will the BCCI “honour” its commitment to Cricket South Africa on the matter IF (and that’s a big IF) such a window could be found. Most certainly not. In the event that the BCCI does somehow manage to “clear the decks” and hold the IPL in India, the T20I series against South Africa will be the first casualty. What needs noting of course is that the BCCI and CSA would like as not discuss fresh dates for the Proteas to “come visiting”.
