After Viacom18, Disney Star releases ad rates for IPL 2024

Disney Star has reportedly released its ad rates for the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League for SD and HD channels.

Per an Economic Times report, the broadcaster is seeking Rs 167 crore for co-presenting sponsorships and Rs 83 crore for associate sponsorships on standard definition channels.

For high-definition broadcasts, these figures are Rs 71 crore and Rs 35 crore, respectively. Spot buy rates are pegged at Rs 12.8 lakh and Rs 5.45 lakh per 10 seconds for SD and HD channels, respectively. Additionally, as was the case last year, Disney Star is tailoring advertising options for the southern markets.

Last week, digital rights holder Viacom18, which will continue to air IPL free on JioCinema, announced its ad rates, which are unchanged from last year. In IPL 2023, the company attracted over 500 advertisers.

The OTT platform is reportedly seeking a cost per mille (CPM) rate of Rs 200 for 10-second mobile video ads and a commercial rate of Rs 16 lakh for 10 seconds during live matches on mobile platforms. For connected TV, the rate for a 10-second live match ad is Rs 6.5 lakh. The company is also seeking significant outlays for features like Super 4s and Super 6s.

The developments are running in tandem with ongoing merger discussions between their parent companies Reliance India Ltd (RIL) and The Walt Disney Company. As per reports, a non-binding agreement to potentially merge Disney Star and Viacom 18 has already been signed, with both companies currently in the due diligence phase.
