The BCCI is reportedly in favour of Dubai as the venue for the players auction of Indian Premier League 2024, with the window for the event under consideration being between December 15 and 19.
Per Cricbuzz, the IPL players auction will be preceded by one for the Women’s Premier League (WPL), expected to take place on December 9. While the venue for the WPL auction has not been finalized, it is likely to be in India.
The cricket website further reports that the IPL auction will most likely be held either on December 18 or 19 and that all IPL franchises have been informed of the likely choice of as the auction venue.
It bears noting that the BCCI had considered holding last year’s auction in Istanbul but eventually settled on Kochi. So it could well turn out that the BCCI finally selects some other venue.
As for the WPL, talk is that the league could be scheduled for February this year as the Indian women’s team has international commitments until mid-January.
