MUMBAI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be paying Rs 100,000 to all state associations for hosting India ‘A’, India U-19, domestic and women’s matches, according to a Cricbuzz report.
The reason for bringing in uniformity in payments is due to a large number of discrepancies found in the submitted bills.
The issue has risen due to the BCCI not having a fixed amount to pay state associations for hosting non-international matches earlier besides other costs to be borne. This is unlike international matches for which the associations are compensated with Rs 2.5 million for a Test match and Rs 1.5 million for an ODI or T20I. Followed by which, the BCCI receives invoices from the associations to pay them accordingly.
However, financial discrepancies could be seen when the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association’s (HPCA) bills ran up to Rs 1.35 million, which included hosting fees for four matches of the Deodhar Trophy, which were played under lights at a single venue. Their bill included Rs 450,000 on diesel generator (DG) sets, Rs.200,000 on furniture and Rs.700,000 on operations and diesel for DG sets.
Even the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) had bills of Rs 800,000 due to hosting the second round of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 earlier this year.
