ZURICH: Belgium, Netherlands and Germany have launched a joint bid under the slogan, “Three Nations, One Goal”.
The three traditional football rivals have expressed their ambitions to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup to FIFA, responsible for organising the World Cup, and UEFA.
The three federations intend to make further arrangements and draw up a covenant before the end of the year. FIFA hasn’t set a deadline for the bids yet.
FIFA declared on Monday the Host City selection process for Women’s World Cup 2023 to begin and that 12 candidate cities in Australia and New Zealand are to take part in virtual workshops from 20 October to 4 November.
Adelaide, Brisbane, Launceston, Melbourne, Newcastle, Perth, Sydney are the cities from Australia to take part in the virtual workshops along with Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, Hamilton, Wellington the cities in New Zealand.
The FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 will also be the first FIFA World Cup – men’s or women’s – to be co-hosted by two confederations, as well as the first FIFA Women’s World Cup to feature 32 teams.
