CA announces naming rights partner for domestic Test Cricket

CANBERRA: Cricket Australia Monday announced that real estate company Domain has come on board as a Platinum Partner with rights across international cricket and CA’s digital channels for the next four years.

Domain will replace Magellan Financial Group, which ended its naming rights sponsorship of domestic Test matches one year into a three-year deal, in the aftermath of the ball tampering scandal.

The agreement will see Domain become the presenting partner for Australian men’s domestic Test series, commencing with the 2018-19 season that features Test series against India and Sri Lanka and including the next Ashes series being hosted in Australia, in 2021-22.

The sponsorship follows Cricket Australia’s recent move from Nine and Ten to Foxtel and the Seven Network in a landmark  six-year broadcast deal.

Domain will also become the Cricket Australia live scoreboard partner, across Cricket Australia’s website and app environments.

Domain and Cricket Australia partnership also involves a 12-month rolling program of social media, content and app integrations across the Cricket Australia platforms, giving Domain access to the 1 million average monthly users of the Cricket Australia live app and 3.3 million average monthly users on mobile & tablet.

In addition, Domain will become the official real estate partner of Cricket Australia under the partnership.

Commenting on the partnership, Cricket Australia executive general manager, Broadcasting, Digital and Commercial, Ben Amarfio said: “We are excited to welcome Domain as a new partner of Cricket Australia and as naming rights sponsor of our Men’s Test series.

“Through this multi-year deal, Domain has made a significant commitment to cricket in Australia. We are grateful for this, and look forward to working closely with the Domain team to ensure this a highly successful partnership.”

Domain chief editorial and marketing officer Melina Cruickshank commented: “Domain is delighted to begin a partnership with Cricket Australia. Our aligned audience strategies in mobile and content represent a unique opportunity for both brands.

“We believe the ‘spirit of cricket’ is resilient and look forward to the growth opportunities this partnership will provide.”

Founded as Fairfax Media’s real estate portal and content arm, Domain was listed on the Australian stock market as a stand alone business in November last year.

Fairfax Media, owner of the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age, currently has a 60% share of Domain’s stock.
