OHTAWARA, Tochigi, Japan: Canon Medical on Monday announced five-year renewals of the medical device company’s ongoing partnership deals with LaLiga giants and bitter rivals Real Madrid FC and FC Barcelona.
The extension will see the medical device company supplying the two club with its diagnostic imaging systems for a further five seasons.
As part of the agreement, Canon Medical will also continue its collaboration with the Barça Innovation Hub (BIHUB) to develop sports medicine solutions that can aid in the prevention and diagnosis of critical injuries both on and off the pitch.
Since the partnership began in 2015, Canon Medical has supplied FC Barcelona’s medical centre at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper training facility with a range of solutions.
Moving forward, the plan is to deliver a range of new technologies to both clubs, including the world’s first AI-powered MRI system, the Vantage Galan 3T with Advanced intelligent Clear-IQ Engine (AiCE), a suite of ultrasound solutions, such as the Viamo sv7, Aplio a550, Aplio i800, and Aplio i900 and the latest digital X-ray system, to support the health and wellbeing of the team until 30 June 2025.
Over the last four years, Canon Medical has helped Real Madrid conduct more than 4,000 diagnostic studies to ensure players from both the academy and the first football and basketball teams get treatment and rehabilitation.
